A file server increases security and safety because there is one central location to back up.  Save all critical business files to the server and you're covered.  Instruct  your business' employees to save only unimportant or temporary documents to their local computers and make sure to keep all important and confidential data on the business' server.

Inovagent servers feature RAID or Redundant Array of Independent Disks.  Our most popular configuration uses RAID5, which spreads the data across three or more hard drives.  If one hard drive fails, your business' data are still safe.  Simply replace the failed drive and type a few commands into the console...soon you're as good as new.  In the meantime, the data are still available to your business and employees probably won't even notice the difference.

Inovagent business servers also feature hot-swap, also called hot plug technology.  Hot-swapping means the hard drives can be removed and replaced with a different drive without turning off the file server.  Users don't even have to log off!  This comes in handy in the aforementioned failure scenario, and also when your business is ready to expand your storage.  Say you have three 500 GB hard disks in a RAID5 configuration.  This gives you 1 TB (1,000 GB) of available storage, but now you need more.  You can swap out the 500GB disks with disks with 1TB capacity each.  After each "hot-swap," you re-build the array.  Once the array is rebuilt on all 1TB hard drives, enter a few commands.  You've just doubled your usable storage capacity to 2TB, without even turning off or rebooting the server, thanks to hot plug technology. 

Please note RAID5 is not a substitute for regular backups.  It just gives you some peace of mind for single hard drive failures.
